Pentagon Money Grab

It is absolutely insane to consider making the overall military bigger over the long term when you are fighting two, what appears, especially now , short term Wars or at least one small scale long term in commitment in Afghanistan. What this country needs to do is get out of Iraq with in the next 18 month redeploy 25% to Afghanistan and get the Taliban. The treatment of women and girls puts them in the same class as the Nazis of WWII. Find Mulla Omar and try him for Crimes against Humanity. In this country we need to step back and rethink our security needs. A War on Terror is not a war of territorial and resource domination as we are use to thinking. In fact using the word war limits our perspective. There are no lines drawn, no rules of engagement, no large scale troop movements. The enemy is among us. Virtually free to move anywhere in the world, including strolling across our own southern boarder. One of the sad remnants of the Karl Rove Political Divide strategy is the idea that to see the threat of terror as a primarily an Intelligent and Law Enforcement issue is considered weak. That to want to spend more money to recruit and retain move Arabic translators or other intelligence gathering activities as opposed to researching a new "Bunker Buster" Nuclear Bomb, is to be some kind of national security wimp. The Neo-Cons have already increased Pentagon spending in it annual budget not to mention spending Iraq. With the increased spending much going to "private contractors" you know without a doubt that we are getting ripped off.To talk of increasing the size of the permanent force at a time of draw down in Iraq sounds like a Pentagon Money Grab.

How to Spot a Neo-con...

There are often times when trying to convince the people that they ask "How can you tell who is a Neo-Con? Well now We have a perfect oppertunity and a simple way to identify them. The people who came out with guns a blaze shooting holes in and dismissing The Iraq Study Groups (ISG) report as nieve or surrender or, and this is most important, talk with almost casualness, that the opiniun or will of the people does not matter. "You can't lead by opinion polls" you'll hear with not even a second thought that polls show a large majority want our leaders to find a way out of the mess. It almost as if the elections did not even take place. Polls show it. An Election proves it. But in the mind of a Neo-Con the People are a neuscenes, Whose opiniuns are to be manipulated and herded by simplistic and devisive, "us" against "them" and repeatative "talking point" rhetoric. Neo-con do not even care what they need to do to maintain power and push forward their view of an "American Peace" They will spend our money like it's play money, even when it goes against their own supposed "Ideology". The Medicare drug program is a perfect example. The idea of using government funds to expand another healthcare program goes against the grain of any true conservative. But, it will help them maintain power. Far more threatening is the money they spend on the things they believe. First is their myopic view of an "American Peace". That peace guarantees 4% of GNP military spending every year regardless of threat and the fact the Pentagon can not account for (T)illions of dollars. But a very close second is insuring they get their "American Piece". Through murky intersections of Power, Money and Government contractors they creates a leaching of America.Katrina is a perfect example. After any natural or man made disaster, their will be talk of looters being shot. Their will be picture of people walking through broken store fronts carrying televisions. But the real looting has not even started yet and there will be no punishment for this looting and no one will be shot.I'm really starting to stray from the original subject, which was.., wait, ...got it. When you hear some one attack or dismiss the ISG Report or refer to as the "Surrender" report, that person is a neo-con.

The People of Democracy

It should be abundantly clear by now (Neo-cons, your excused. You'll never learn.) that when it comes to fighting a War of choice, democracies suck. There is no more formatable fighting force then a democracy defending itself from outside aggressors.
But going out and starting a war? Maybe tomorrow or when attacked. If it quick and flashy and makes us feel good. If we see ourselves as the "white hats", the Heros swooping in at the end of the movie to save the day with fresh shiney soldier jumping from helocopters just before they touch down and the credits start to roll.
The People of Democracy don't have the time or the patients to have to pay attention to our own government going out and starting a pre-emptive war. We put people in power to figure these things out to avoid wars, because as far as most of us are concerned the mortage is due the kids are late for soccer and the President is pre-empting Desperate Houswives.
We don't want to come home at night and see heartache and bloodshed. We don't want to think about the family down the street that will never be the same when a child is lost to War. Especially if it is a war that did not need to be, waged by those who believe that War is a legitimate tool of International deplomacy. Kind of a "Pro-Choice for War".

ENOUGH!

It's been a while since my last post and a whole lot has happened. The Democrats have taken control of Congress. The Senate was a little bit of a surprise but anything that makes Karl Rove's last election in the Bush Administration a total failure just makes that the cherry. I think the last election was not necessarily a swing from the Republicans to Democrats or from Conservative to Liberal. It was more of an irruption from the center. It was moderates from both side walking into the both and saying "ENOUGH!" Enough with the War and those that think war is an option in foriegn policy. Enough with the politics of division and the Rovian scapegoating of Gays and Illegal immigrants. Enough open the government purse strings to corporate benefactors and private contractors. Enough International humilations in going to war on faulty or trump up intelligence and torture. What remains to be seen is if the eruption of moderate America can be sustained or if it was more of a Change! wake me when your finished. Well, as I said it been a while since my last post. my birthday and the thanksgiving holidays have come and gone and I been working a lot on the Our web site. The big area of my new interest on the web site have been Java applets and RSS feeds. Java means our site is very busy looking, mainly, because every applet I found I just had to try. The feeds have been really cool. The idea I can just go out, get the feed and put the Washington Post on our web site is kind of interesting. I got all kind of feeds on the site News, Videos (links and streaming) and some other cool ones like the latest Hubble pictures and even Gay Radio and TV feeds. The best thing about it is it makes my morning coffee kind of like a one stop shopping, The Quiky Mart part of my day if you will. I guess since it been a while since my last post I should include so quick comments on some things. -In 2004 Bush claimed the election had earned him political capital and he intended to spend it. Damn those new Bankruptcy Laws. -If a Muslim takes an Oath on a Christian Bible it doesn't Count. -Mark Foley is not a pedophile he is a Chicken Hawk. -Buying males prostitutes and Meth isn't just being Gay it's Hardcore! -When Religous War is on our TV's every day and has been behind violence since Man asked why the sun rises? Why does Bill O'rielly continue His War on Christmas thing? Well, that should get us some what up to date. Hopefully I'll be posting more now the website requires only some tinkering and rearranging and ok a little toning down. So for now that's... ENOUGH!
