Intelligent Design

If Homosexuality is determined to be biological. Then the Christians were right, Homosexuality is a choice. It was God's Choice

Kidnapping

Just a quick note, because I just saw it on the O'reilly show. In the story one of Oreilly's correspondents is trying to interview a sex offender as he goes to his car. Now I'm not defending the sex offender. This point is regardless of the target of the interview.
When the reporter stepped between the car and the door, preventing the vehicle from leaving, That by definition is kidnapping.

Where the Blame Falls

On so many day we see death and destruction in Iraq. Car bombs blow up children and innocent people just shopping in a market, trying to feed their families and live their lives. We hear blame and fingers pointed "the Shia are killing the Sunni", "the Sunni kill Shia" and "the Insurgents are killing our troops". Deaths in the hundreds of thousand, a generation or more scared by horrific voilence.
And in the end, who is to blame? We are. The People of the United States. We allowed our leadership to take our nation into an unprovoked War against a peoples whose leadership we disagreed. Hunreds of thousands of people are dead now solely because of our actions.
Now We look at the treatment of our injured soldiers returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. We can blame the Bush administration and we definitly can for not planning for the influx of soldiers resulting from the war, by not funneling more of the half a trillion dollars we've spent to see that our injured, both physically and mentally, are treated with the respect and dignity they deserve. Or if your a good Republican you'll point the finger a Bill Clinton which you probably could for going along with the military's Industrial Complex's efforts to profitize military spending.
But in the end we can only blame ourselves. We all knew our veterians were not treated well. Even as we have learned more about the effects of Post traumatic Stress no effort was made to reach back and help those Homeless Vietnam Vets we walk past on the street of our country.
We support our troops when we need them to kill but not when they need us most.

Republican Flip-Flop

In the 90's Republican said it not about the sex, it about lying under oath. Now you can lie under oath if your lie makes it impossible to determine a crime. Do they think we are stupid?

Institutionalized

The biggest problem with the Bush Administration policies toward human and civil rights is that they attempt to institutionalize practices that have been proven to be vulnerable to extremes in human nature.
Torture is the most corosive of these. Many people know of the Stanley Milgram experiment in the 1960's with Yale student admistering electric shocks to other students and just how suprisingly far they would go.
I think the ticking bomb is a false argument. In a case where there is information about a dirty bomb located somehwere ready to go off, most people would say all bets are off and we need to find this weapon. The problem is when you institutionalize torture as a legitimate means of interogation. The potential for abuse at a variety levels makes it unmanagable.
This same kind of abuse is evident in the FBI handling of "National Security Letters". Which might as well be called "Umwarrented Search Letters",
I wonder how many of these might have been to check on an ex-wife? We'll never know the didn't keep very good records, Surprise!

The Democrat Advantage

The Democrats have a serious advantage right now, that if past history is any indication, they do not know they have.
The Republicans were masters of bringing up legislation that would force Democrats to take unpopular or at a minimum get them on the rcord for future campiagn ads. A Constitutional amendment to ban Gay marriage is a perfect example.
The Advantage is too use this same tool. The american people clearly want an end to the war in Iraq, either now or a timeline for withdraw. The Republicans clearly do not and will vote to block any action that even slightly resembles a timeline or withdraw. They will be forced day after day to stand up and tell the american people why their opinion is irrelevent. How people who have that opinion (most americans) are "cut-n-runners" or worse not "supporting the troops".
Why the Dems are so scared to take a step that most americans support I'll never understand. Even if the effort fails which I'm sure it would, with republic filibuster power, the american people will remember who was on the wrong side of democracy.

The Whore of Hatred: "FAGGOT"

Ann Coulter calls John Edwards A "faggot". In the media it is a small paragraph, a few canidates come out to distance themselves from the comments and we will soon forget. Compare this if she had said that She couldn't comment on Obama "because in today's political enviroment the word Nigger is taboo". Or if talking about Joe Lieberman she said "I like that Kike"
The People who need to speak out are all those that have found themslves the target of names that devalue the exisistance of a whole class of people. All the niggers, Spics, Wops, gooks, and kikes and so many more need to condemn Ann "The Whore of Hatred" Coulter.
