Far Away and Long Ago

Space.com:
"A stellar explosion has smashed the record for most distant object in the known universe.
The gamma-ray burst came from about 13 billion light-years away, and represents a relic from when the universe was just 630 million years old.
"It easily surpassed the most distant galaxies and quasars," said Edo Berger, an astrophysicist at Harvard University and a leading member of the team that first demonstrated the burst's origin. "In fact, it showed that we can use these spectacular events to pinpoint the first generation of stars and galaxies."

Higher Interest Rates

If the banks need to raise more capital how about some higher interest rates on our Savings and Checking accounts?

We the People...

I think there are two issues that we may have resort to Constitutional Amendments to force our leaders to bend to our will. mu-wa- ha- ha -ha. Sorry that was just silly.
Anyway the two issues are
1. Health Care is Human Right. Ok the government might get this one right they're working on it but they better get it right this time or we're going to amend their ass.
2. The second is the decriminalization of drug. Drug abuse, drug addiction is a health issue not a criminal justice issue.

Torture-lite

Tonight Bill O'Reilly had Frank "Luntz Cap" Luntz on his show and with him he had his videos with his little approve/ disapprove graph. At one point they show a video of Obama's worst response in history.
Now this a group of 50% voted Dem 50% Rep. They run a tape of Obama Speaking at CIA Headquarters.... everything going ok .... dems and reps are hanging in the middle ... what's that? Obama said he banned torture ... BAM! the reps hit the floor, disapproval guts all over the place. I mean That line hit the floor faster then a guy kept up for 11 days in a freezing room dowsed with cold water and thrown into a wall ... But with a neck brace ...we're not animals.
It has been interesting watching the reps defend torture. I think my favorite is the one where it's not torture because we use it to train our soldier how to resist if our enemies use torture.
I guess when we do it, it's more like torture-lite.

Family Tree

NY Times:

"STONY BROOK, N.Y. — Six years after their discovery, the extinct little people nicknamed hobbits who once occupied the Indonesian island of Flores remain mystifying anomalies in human evolution, out of place in time and geography, their ancestry unknown. Recent research has only widened their challenge to conventional thinking about the origins, transformations and migrations of the early human family."

Wet Back

Whenever you hear someone blame the swine flu on illegal immigrants from Mexico just imagine what a bitch it must be for them to get across the New Zealand border.

A Pain in the ASS

Living in South Jersey I'm very familiar with Arlen Specter. There are times when he's right on and there are times he can aggravate the hell of you. So him switching parties just means the Republican's pain the ass is now the Democrat's pain in the ass.

OK Republican Gather 'round

You know I'm starting to feel a little bad the Republican are not getting to play much these days. So I think it would be nice if we give them a project all their own.

Ok gather 'round Republicans, Ok President Obama really needs your help and he thinks you can really help him out with something that's very important. Are we ready to help the President?

OK President Obama would like you all to help him with the budget. How's that sound? Ok then, President Obama would like you to make a list of every wasteful thing that you think should be cut. Now don't be shy, nothing is off limits so list everything you can think of. Will you do that to help the President?

Wait to you get a load of that list.

Perez Hilton

OK for some reason I feel the need to apologize and say that as a gay man I am not much into the the glamorous Hollywood gossip scene. So until recently I had no idea who Perez Hilton was, other then hearing the name a couple times, which when I heard it I probably just thought Paris Hilton or some relative of hers. But his recent dust up on the Miss USA or America or something Pageant brought him onto my radar screen. Of course this story got a hell of a lot more play then it deserved because the news shows got to keep running the swimsuit footage.

So after checking out Mr. Hilton I discovered that there's not really much difference between Perez Hilton and standing in line at your local supermarket except at least in the supermarket you get a good laugh and some cool creepy alien stories.

Abu Zubaydah Interrogator Speaks

NY Times:

By ALI SOUFAN
Published: April 22, 2009

Ali Soufan was an F.B.I. supervisory special agent from 1997 to 2005.

"FOR seven years I have remained silent about the false claims magnifying the effectiveness of the so-called enhanced interrogation techniques like waterboarding. I have spoken only in closed government hearings, as these matters were classified. But the release last week of four Justice Department memos on interrogations allows me to shed light on the story, and on some of the lessons to be learned."

"It is inaccurate, however, to say that Abu Zubaydah had been uncooperative. Along with another F.B.I. agent, and with several C.I.A. officers present, I questioned him from March to June 2002, before the harsh techniques were introduced later in August. Under traditional interrogation methods, he provided us with important actionable intelligence.
We discovered, for example, that Khalid Shaikh Mohammed was the mastermind of the 9/11 attacks. Abu Zubaydah also told us about Jose Padilla, the so-called dirty bomber. This experience fit what I had found throughout my counterterrorism career: traditional interrogation techniques are successful in identifying operatives, uncovering plots and saving lives."

Super Silk

Rueters.com:

"LONDON (Reuters) - Spider silk is already tougher and lighter than steel, and now scientists have made it three times stronger by adding small amounts of metal.
The technique may be useful for manufacturing super-tough textiles and high-tech medical materials, including artificial bones and tendons.
"It could make very strong thread for surgical operations," researcher Seung-Mo Lee of the Max Planck Institute of Microstructure Physics in Halle, Germany, said in a telephone interview."

Summary: Neil Cavuto, Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, and Catherine Herridge joined other Fox News figures in advancing Marc Thiessen's claim that the use of harsh interrogations techniques on Khalid Shaikh Mohammed "stopped an attack on the Library Tower." But the Bush administration has said that the attack was thwarted more than a year before Mohammed was captured.

How Weird is this...

Fox News this morning was reporting on a young boy singing sensation in England. After they showed a piece of him singing and that Simon guy heaping praise on him. The Fox host Grechen something said he had a "Micheal Jackson-esque voice".
It just seems kind of weird that who ever wrote that piece, the first comparison to a great singer that comes to mind is a guy that's been accused of molesting young boys?

The Ticking Bomb

If torture, more specifically waterboarding, is the be all to end all to getting the information you need to save lies. Then why did Khalid Sheikh Mohammed have to be waterbaorded more then 160 times?

I guess we should be thankful some of those bombs had incredibly long tickers.

Party Like It's 1984

Newsweek.com:

"In "1984," George Orwell's classic novel on the evils of totalitarianism, the agents of Big Brother break down the will of resisters by throwing them in a dreaded torture chamber known as Room 101. The idea behind Room 101 is to expose interrogation subjects to whatever they fear most. The protagonist in the novel, Winston Smith, fears rats. Confronted with a cage full of rats when he enters Room 101, Smith breaks down and betrays his lover, Julia, as an enemy of the state."

" as in Abu Zubaydah's case, had been kept awake with manacles for up to a week at a time, slammed into a wall (but not one that was rock-solid, and no more than 20 or 30 times) and repeatedly doused with cold water (but not colder than 41 degrees!). "In practice, these methods were nothing short of brutal," says Jameel Jaffer, a lawyer for the ACLU. It is likely that the public will continue to learn more as lawsuits and congressional or administration investigations go forward."

If it doesn't fit, Redefine it

I've said before in my posts that people from Wall Street don't think like normal people. I've also said it's an idiots move to try and tie moves in the stock market to day to day politics and what comes out of Washington. But the people on Fox News Saturday Morning Business Shows take it a step further. If it doesn't fit your narrative, just redefine it.

Mirror Mirror on the Wall, Who is a Fascist Most of All

It seems Conservatives are throwing around the term Fascist again. First it was Islam-o-fascist during the war on terror. Now It's the Democrats and Barack Obama.
So let's look at their argument and see how it pans out.
There are 14 commonly excepted defining traits of a fascist society. I'll be using a list by Dr. Lawrence Britt, who " has examined the fascist regimes of Hitler (Germany), Mussolini (Italy), Franco (Spain), Suharto (Indonesia) and several Latin American regimes. Britt found 14 defining characteristics common to each:"
At the end of the list ask yourself who sounds more like a fascist, a democrat or a Republican?
1. Powerful and Continuing Nationalism - Fascist regimes tend to make constant use of patriotic mottos, slogans, symbols, songs, and other paraphernalia.
2. Disdain for the Recognition of Human Rights - Because of fear of enemies and the need for security, the people in fascist regimes are persuaded that human rights can be ignored in certain cases because of "need."
3. Identification of Enemies/Scapegoats as a Unifying Cause - The people are rallied into a unifying patriotic frenzy over the need to eliminate a perceived common threat or foe
4. Supremacy of the Military - Even when there are widespread
domestic problems, the military is given a disproportionate amount of government funding
5. Rampant Sexism - The governments of fascist nations tend to be almost exclusively male-dominated. Under fascist regimes, traditional gender roles are made more rigid. Divorce, abortion and homosexuality are suppressed and the state is represented as the ultimate guardian of the family institution.
6. Controlled Mass Media - Sometimes to media is directly controlled by the government, but in other cases, the media is indirectly controlled by government regulation, or sympathetic media spokespeople and executives.
7. Obsession with National Security - Fear is used as a motivational tool by the government over the masses.
8. Religion and Government are Intertwined
9. Corporate Power is Protected - The industrial and business aristocracy of a fascist nation often are the ones who put the government leaders into power
10. Labor Power is Suppressed - Because the organizing power of labor is the only real threat to a fascist government
11. Disdain for Intellectuals and the Arts - Fascist nations tend to promote and tolerate open hostility to higher education, and academia.
12. Obsession with Crime and Punishment - Under fascist regimes, the police are given almost limitless power to enforce laws
13. Rampant Cronyism and Corruption
14. Fraudulent Elections

Still having trouble? Here's a Hint.

2. Disdain for the Recognition of Human Rights - Because of fear of enemies and the need for security, the people in fascist regimes are persuaded that human rights can be ignored in certain cases because of "need." The people tend to look the other way or even approve of torture

We Rest Our Case.

I was reading the recent report on right-wing extremists released by the DHS. In one section the report talks about the potential of extremist groups to attract returning war veterans. They used Tmothy McVeigh, the Oklahoma City Bomber, as an example.
So what does Fox News do? Say the report attacks all veterans and brings on angry veterans to attack the report. We rest our case.

A Truely Great Man

If the Captain held hostage on the lifeboat recently wants to be remembered as a truely great man he would offer to adopt the teenage pirate that was captured during his rescue.

Electrodes on Your Tea Bags

I understand obama's desire to look forward rather then back when it comes to torture under the Bush Administration. He was sworn into office in January with some serious of problems on his desk. Two wars and a collapsing economy means that the President is like the Captain of a ship heading into a storm. His mission right now is get us all through alive.

Which is fine with me. That's the job we hired him for and where he needs to keep his focus. If he or his administration was to aggressively pursue charges it would be a major distraction to his mission at hand.

However, He should not be seen as standing in the way of Justice and the pursuit of the truth. We do not need the president to go after members of Bush's Torture Team. We have Congress to either investigate on it's own or to establish a so called "Truth Commission" and we also have International Criminal Courts.

All we need for the president to do is honor his pledge for transparency and release all requested document to congress or a commission and to stand ready to Pardon those who legitimately deserve it. If you say in a blanket statement that those who were just following orders will not be prosecuted your creating a situation where some really nasty sadistic pricks who took a wink from the white house to mean it's Hostel III.

Everyone knows what happens when you institutionalize torture. Enhanced Techniques at the top turns into electrodes on your teabags at the bottom.

NY Gov. to Introduce Gay Marriage

NEW YORK (Reuters) - New York Governor David Paterson will introduce legislation on Thursday to make gay marriage legal, but the move faces an uncertain vote in the state's Senate.
If the bill passes, New York would follow Connecticut, Massachusetts, Vermont and Iowa in legalizing gay marriage.
"The timing was always right," said Paterson, a Democrat -- who ordered all New York state agencies a year ago to recognize out-of-state gay marriages. "It's just who is willing to take that step, and I am."

American Dad Calls Gays to the GOP

Candice Gingrich Eyes Newt

Show Us the Money

I think the only way to be fair in our coming debates about Defense spending is when ever a congressional Representative or a Senator speaks on the issue for the media to mention or in the case of TV to list under the Rep's name how much the Pentagon spends in his or her's district or state.

AIDS at Home

Washington Post:

Editorial

"WHEN IT comes to fighting the HIV/AIDS epidemic in the United States, there is an alarming complacency among Americans. Perhaps it's the success of antiretroviral drug treatments. In the eyes of many, those drugs have transformed the disease from one with no cure to a manageable ailment. Or maybe it's the view that AIDS is more of a worry in Africa or Southeast Asia. But it's not just happening "over there." And the Obama administration took a first step last week to remind people that it's happening right here, right now.
"Act Against AIDS" is a five-year endeavor announced last Tuesday with the mission to snap us out of our somnolence as the epidemic rages around us. The $45 million effort by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Department of Health and Human Services will highlight the fact that every 9 1/2 minutes, someone in the United States becomes infected with the human immunodeficiency virus, which causes AIDS. A multimedia ad campaign will direct people to the Web site http://www.nineandahalfminutes.org/, which is a portal to a wealth of information on the epidemic, how people can protect themselves and their partners, and where they can seek testing and treatment."

Title: Obama Nomination Papers Are Perjurious!
Subtitle: Tell All 50 State Attorneys General To Investigate NOW The Compelling Evidence That Barack Obama Was Born In Africa!
Highlights:

  • "I dared bring Barack Obama into court to force him to produce his birth certificate and put an end to the controversy over his status as a "natural born" citizenship once and for all. And now he's coming after me and the United States Justice Foundation (USJF) -- the public-interest legal group that I founded over 30 years ago -- with a vengeance! Merely because we dare to seek the truth! "
  • "USJF has started efforts to convince State Attorneys General, all across the country, to investigate whether Barack Obama has committed perjury by knowingly filing false nomination papers ... claiming to be constitutionally eligible to run for, and serve as, President of the United States. As you know, the available evidence shows that he was born in Africa. A FAX to all 50 State Attorneys General is available for you to send right now. "
  • "You see, even though it's past January 20, 2009 -- inauguration day -- Barack Obama can still be stopped from becoming an illegal "squatter" in the White House.

Mainstreaming Marijuana

"LOS ANGELES -- With little notice and even less controversy, marijuana is now available as a medical treatment in California to almost anyone who tells a willing physician he would feel better if he smoked.
Pot is now retailed over the counter in hundreds of storefronts across Los Angeles and is credited with reviving a section of downtown Oakland, where an entrepreneur sells out classes offering "quality training for the cannabis industry." The tabloid LA Journal of Education for Medical Marijuana is fat with ads for Magic Purple, Strawberry Cough and other offerings in more than 400 "dispensaries" operating in the city.

One Tough Dog

"The extraordinary story of the castaway hound emerged today when Miss Griffith was reunited with her beloved pet.
'I thought I'd never see her again, but she's proved to be a dog who can really look after herself,' said Miss Griffith.
Sophie Tucker, named after the American vaudeville comedian, fell overboard from the family's yacht when they ran into bad weather off the Queensland coastal town of Mackay.
Miss Griffith and her friends searched the area, putting their own lives at risk in the rough seas, but there was no sign of Sophie Tucker.
Unknown to them, the dog swam towards remote St Bees Island, a quiet volcanic strip of land fringed with reefs."

Where are the Boards?

It has to say something about the bizarre incestuous relationship between the Board of Directors and the Executive Officers of some of these big banks.
How in the world do these guys still have jobs?

"Uniquely American"

That's the phrase used by the leaders in congress these day that are working on health care reform. Looking around Washington these days I would assume that means do no harm to the big private insurers who have caused so many, so much pain.

Running with the Bulls

The Independent UK:

" A Polish politician has criticised his local zoo for acquiring a "gay" elephant named Ninio who prefers male companions and will probably not procreate, local media reported today.
"We didn't pay 37 million zlotys ($11 million) for the largest elephant house in Europe to have a gay elephant live there," Michal Grzes, a conservative councillor in the city of Poznan in western Poland, was quoted as saying.
"We were supposed to have a herd, but as Ninio prefers male friends over females how will he produce offspring?" said Grzes, who is from the right-wing opposition Law and Justice party.
The head of the Poznan zoo said 10-year-old Ninio may be too young to decide whether he prefers males or females as elephants only reach sexual maturity at 14."

Obstructing Justice?

NYTimes:

"WASHINGTON — The Obama administration said Friday that it would appeal a district court ruling that granted some military prisoners in Afghanistan the right to file lawsuits seeking their release. The decision signaled that the administration was not backing down in its effort to maintain the power to imprison terrorism suspects for extended periods without judicial oversight.
In a court filing, the Justice Department also asked District Judge John D. Bates not to proceed with the habeas-corpus cases of three detainees at Bagram Air Base outside Kabul, Afghanistan. Judge Bates ruled last week that the three — each of whom says he was seized outside of Afghanistan — could challenge their detention in court."

To the people on the left who are hyper-ventilating about Obama's Afghan and Iraq Supplemental request. I find it increasingly hard to believe that Glenn Beck. of Fox News, hasn't spent some time in a Mental Institution and I do not make that comment lightly or from ignorance. I am married to a Bi-Polar. In fact the first 2 years of our relationship he had not yet been diagnosised. So I've battled mental illness face to face to save the man I love and now, on his meds, I know I have won.
Back to Beck. So as an average guy with a little experience in dealing with mental illness I can honestly say this Glenn Beck dude is a nut job!

"This is going to hurt"

Washington Post:

"RICHMOND, VA . April 8 -- A divided General Assembly narrowly rejected $125 million in federal stimulus money Wednesday that would have provided additional unemployment benefits to thousands of jobless Virginians."

"Sen. Ken Cuccinelli II (R-Fairfax) said. "Actually our constituents . . . who are now unemployed are being used by this administration to hold a gun to the head of this General Assembly"

" The change would have increased the rate at which employers pay into the state unemployment trust fund by up to $4.50 more a worker a year, according to the governor's office."

""This is going to hurt small businesses. That's where the impact is going to be felt," Sen. John C. Watkins (R-Chesterfield) said."

"Virginia provides some of the lowest unemployment benefits in the country. Employers pay an average of $98 per worker a year for unemployment insurance. The national average is $258."

"wealthy homosexual activists "

Think Progress:

"For years, conservatives have attackedactivist judges” for ruling that bans on same-sex marriage are unconstitutional. Today, the Vermont legislation overrode a veto by Gov. Jim Douglas (R) and became the first state to approve same-sex marriage through the legislature — without the help of any courts. However, this fact didn’t deter the far right, which immediately began putting out statements decrying the “wealthy homosexual activists” who are driving this movement to dismantle “democracy.” A sampling:

Tony Perkins, Family Research Council: “Same-sex ‘marriage’ is a movement driven by wealthy homosexual activists and a liberal elite determined to destroy not only the institution of marriage, but democracy as well. Time and again, we see when citizens have the opportunity to vote at the ballot box, they consistently opt to support traditional marriage.”

Mathew Staver, Liberty Counsel: “By redefining marriage, the Vermont legislature removed the cornerstone of society and the foundation of government. The consequences will rest on their shoulders and upon those passive objectors who know what to do but lack the courage to stand against this form of tyranny.”

Concerned Women for America: “Vermont legislators’ futile attempt to replace God by vainly redefining marriage eerily follows how that first man and woman acted on the first temptation — and the root of all temptations — to act as if they were gods. That one decision by Adam and Eve to believe that they could ‘be like God’ separated them from God, destroyed the peace that they had experienced, and ushered in what some would call ‘unintended consequences’ of pain and destruction.”

A Gay Mecca?

NYTimes:

The Stonewall rebellion of 1969, in which protesters clashed with the authorities after a violent police raid on a Greenwich Village bar, is a defining moment in the history of the gay rights movement. Now New York City officials hope to capitalize on the 40th anniversary of the uprising, this June, by promoting the city as a gay tourist destination.

Announcing a new marketing campaign under the slogan “Rainbow Pilgrimage,” tourism officials said Tuesday that they would seek to portray a visit to New York “as a ‘rite of passage’ for the gay and lesbian traveler.”

A Better Face for America

It's not about how much Obama got from his European trip. It's not about him getting more troops for afghanistan or more stimulus from Germany or France.
It's about putting a new face on America and in regard to that Obama's overseas trip was a great success.

Fox News Undermines Democracy.

A Fox News banner asked.

Should Union Leaders be fired to help the Economy?

Last time I looked Union Leaders are elected.

The E.P.A.'s Most Wanted

See the list:

"Not Good Enough, Mr. President"

I am gay man. I am a man that loves a man. I have no desire to be a woman, dress as a woman or marry a woman. Woman are my sisters in a battle to thrive in a heterosexual male dominated world. The Man dominated world is a place built on unimaginable violence and gross exploitation of people and resources.
So I have to ask myself why it seems that the oppression of woman everywhere in the world seems to outrage me more then most people I know including women? I guess maybe it's because I see the limiting the ability of a woman to live her dreams is the grandmother of oppressive practices.
So when I listen to President Obama address the Shia Law in Afghanistan my first thought is "Not good enough, Mr. President"

Anti-Division

Bill O'Reilly asks. Is the Media Anti-Religion?

No Bill it is not. The media can not be anything other then a reflection of what the people demand and thus a reflection of the people. It's kind of like the debate years ago about Rap music, where I might add Billo was wrong then too. but hey who keeps score? Rap, as art, is not something that influences society it reflects society. Rap is what young black artists see outside their windows.

The media is much the same except it represents us in a much more economic demand kind of way. There is a reason it's called the Main Stream Media, it main stream because it's where most of us are. We're the middle, the secular majority. We like our information fast and convenient. We like our entertainment loose and a little bit dirty and we also like to think of our neighbors as friends.

So No the media is not anti-religion. But you should know that the people on main street are really getting tired of the religious division crap. Keep this up and we'll outlaw Christmas! OK maybe not outlaw it cause it is pretty cool... how about we'll change the name? I know, We'll call it "The Happy Holiday".

Vermont, every gay person's first glimmer of hope, is poised to become the third state to legalize gay marriage. The legislation has breezed through the House (95-52) and Senate(26-4) That's not a typo. In the Senate 26 voted for gay marriage and 4 (four) (IV) voted against gay marriage.
Done Deal? Not so fast! The Republican Governor Jim Douglas has decided he must take democracy into his own hands, reject the will of the People's Representatives and veto this legislation.
I have to ask myself when a man says "The question of same sex marriage is an issue that does not break cleanly as Republican or Democrat, rural or urban, religious or atheist. It is an intensely personal decision – a decision informed by all of those things and many more – an amalgam of experience, conviction and faith. These beliefs are deeply held, passionately expressed and, for many legislators, infinitely more complex than the ultimate ‘yea’ or ‘nay’ required to fulfill the duty of their office."
How can you acknowledge that this is such a "deeply held, passionately expressed" personal issue and then use your own deeply held minority point of view to stand in the way of democracy.

Future Markets

It's interesting that because of their "Socialist" safety net programs the Europeans are able to take a conservative tack and are more willing to hold tight and let the markets take care of themselves. Except with some new regulations of course.
Why should they spend any money more then what they need to sustain the safety net programs. None will have to worry about losing their health care, generous unemployment benefist mean that most will keep their homes. Why not just spend the money on that and let the markets flush out the poisons?
That's the way they look at it but they are wrong. We need a global jump start to this economy. All countries that can owe it to the other less developed countries that will bare much of the burden, And they owe it to their future markets.

T.V Health Care Opponent a Fraud

NY Times:

"Once lauded for building Columbia/HCA into the largest health care company in the world, Mr. Scott was ousted by his own board of directors in 1997 amid the nation’s biggest health care fraud scandal. The company’s guilty plea and payment of $1.7 billion to settle charges including the overbilling of state and federal health programs was taken as a repudiation of Mr. Scott’s relentless bottom-line approach.
“He hopes people don’t Google his name,” said John E. Hartwig, a former deputy inspector general at the Department of Health and Human Services, one of various state and federal agencies that investigated Columbia/HCA when Mr. Scott was its chief executive."

Same as it ever was...

It always interesting the way Republican and Democrats will stretch out a time frame to make the numbers seem bigger. Just tell me how far we need to go out to get to trillions. Five years, ten?
Economist can't predict next year how can anyone predict out 10 years? So what do the Republicans do? They project out 80 years. I mean watching Obama try to bowl is painful but watching the republicans come up with a new idea is just adorable.
Every time they move anymore it is totally contrary to common sense. We're in a time when every sector of the economy is contracting so what to the Republicans want to do, freeze which really means contract government spending. Not to mention withdraw the stimulus package. Just from a humanitarian point of view that's insanity. The government is going to need to spend more just for safety net programs. Are they going to freeze payments for emergency rooms as the unemployed and uninsured pour in?
It just doesn't make sense. But I guess it doesn't have too when everyone is fixating on how tall a trillion one dollar bills is.
Here's some reality for Republican. Barack Obama entered the Oval Office with a annual deficit of $1.3 trillion. That's $1.3 this year, the next year, the year after that, assuming Obama did nothing, hell why not.. let use static numbers and go out 80 years. I believe that would be just over a $100 Gazillion.
I think the one thing that stands out is the Republican Plan to cut the top income bracket from 35% to 25% (adorable is turning into Chucky) that means if your a millionaire maybe let pick on out of a hat.. Maybe someone like a CEO of a giant financial Institution and you had a really good year, maybe not the company you lead but you did pretty good and you made $100 million your tax bill right now would be $35 million. What the Republican think would be a good idea is to give that CEO a $10 million tax cut.

What's that smell?

Huffington Post:

"Medical marijuana advocates are hoping that a raid on a San Francisco club last week doesn't indicate a return to the Bush days and that President Obama plans to stand by his word to let such clubs operate as long as they are in compliance with state laws. But they've been burned too many times to be overly optimistic.
"This has a deeply suspicious feel to it, as if they're conducting business as usual with new rhetoric," says Kris Hermes, a spokesman for American for Safe Access, medical marijuana industry trade group and advocacy organization.
Drug Enforcement Administration agents raided a San Francisco cannabis club last week without the cooperation of local authorities, making no arrests but hauling out computers and club products."
