Just In Time

The U.S. and most of the Industrialized World live in "just in time" economies. Things are distributed to where they're needed when they're needed. No More No Less. This works great for wringing waste out of the system and increasing profitablity but in the event of catastopic collapse in the distribution system, it would leave people without lots of important stuff fast. First among them food. How long would your grocery store last with a serious distruption to it's supply chain?
Sounds like a good argument to support your local farmers.
