A couple of years ago I wrote a post "What if it's already too late....". One of the possible endings to that sentence I wrote "... and the Industrial and Chemical revolution of the past 200 years has already sufficiently polluted the Environment as to make our Extinction a certainty?"
Now today We have Coal-Fired Slug in Tennessee that broke out from it's holding pond and flooded 300 acres with a really super nasty gunk "included 45,000 pounds of arsenic, 49,000 pounds of lead, 1.4 million pounds of barium, 91,000 pounds of chromium and 140,000 pounds of manganese." as reported in the NYT. Would you raise a family near that stuff?
We also have Giant ponds of pig poop in the Carolina's just waiting for a hurricane to flush it into the water system and by the way the Bush Administration would like to start mining Uranium next to the Grand Canyon. Maybe it is too late?
